Lionel Messi is once again making headlines in Florida’s real estate market. An LLC linked to the Argentine soccer star recently purchased a $8 million home in Fort Lauderdale, further expanding the real estate portfolio he has built in South Florida since joining Inter Miami.
The transaction was reported on September 24 by Bloomberg Línea and South Florida Business Journal, based on public property records. According to these sources, the purchasing company is registered under the name of Alfonso Nebot Armisen, Messi’s longtime financial manager.
The new acquisition has one particularly notable feature: it is located directly next to the home Messi already owns in Fort Lauderdale.
In 2023, Messi purchased a residence in an exclusive Fort Lauderdale community for approximately $10.8 million. The property features eight bedrooms and sits along one of the city’s waterways.
The newly acquired $8 million home has five bedrooms and is also located directly on the water.
Acquiring neighboring properties is a strategy sometimes used by high-net-worth individuals and investors to expand residential space, increase privacy, and potentially consolidate adjacent parcels.
The Fort Lauderdale purchase is not an isolated transaction within Messi’s U.S. real estate portfolio.
The Argentine star previously invested in Sunny Isles Beach, where he purchased a unit at Porsche Design Tower in 2019 for approximately $5 million. In 2021, he added another property at Regalia, a beachfront residential tower, for approximately $7.3 million.
More recently, in 2025, Messi also signed contracts to acquire four units at Cipriani Residences Miami, the luxury development in Brickell. One of the units was reportedly valued at approximately $7.5 million. The project is expected to welcome residents in 2027.
His activity in Florida's real estate market goes beyond owning a home connected to his professional career. His portfolio includes luxury residential properties as well as commitments to new developments.
The new purchase also highlights Fort Lauderdale, a city that has gained increasing prominence within South Florida’s luxury real estate market in recent years.
While Miami remains one of the region’s leading destinations for international real estate investment, Fort Lauderdale offers a combination of waterfront properties, navigable waterways, urban infrastructure and convenient access to other major South Florida markets.
Messi’s decision to maintain and expand his real estate presence in the city also highlights the appeal Fort Lauderdale holds for high-net-worth buyers.
The purchase comes as Messi has also confirmed his long-term commitment to the region.
Inter Miami announced that the Argentine captain extended his contract with the club through the end of the 2028 MLS season. In the official announcement, Messi expressed his satisfaction with the club’s project and his excitement about the future arrival of the new stadium at Miami Freedom Park.
With this latest acquisition, Messi continues to build an increasingly significant real estate presence across Florida.
Messi’s latest acquisition once again highlights the continued appeal of South Florida’s real estate market for investors looking to diversify their portfolios and build long-term wealth in U.S. dollars.
